In today’s digital-first world, face-to-face interactions can feel like a rarity, but their value in building strong, lasting relationships can’t be overstated. Last week, I experienced this firsthand during a work trip to Manhattan. It marked several milestones for me—my first time in New York, my first in-person meeting with a key client, and my first business trip as a self-employed professional and new dad.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss long-term strategy for the client’s brand. We’ve had plenty of virtual meetings, but sitting face-to-face was on a whole different level. Some brainstorming and collaboration you just can’t do on a Zoom call.

This trip also gave me the opportunity to reflect on my entrepreneurial journey. A year ago, I left my job at a cool ad agency to quietly build a small marketing company. My goal was to offer a white-glove service tailored to my clients, focusing on quality relationships over quantity. Standing in the heart of Manhattan, discussing long-term goals with a client who trusts me to guide their brand, felt like a validation of that choice.

In-person visits are a core value for me, and it’s something I plan to carry forward as a foundational part of my Boston advertising agency. No matter how digital the world becomes, I believe that face-to-face meetings are key to building strong, lasting relationships. It’s what I prioritize for my clients and will continue to do as my company grows.
